Sakura is the Japanese word for the cherry blossom. Renowned for its fleeting beauty, it holds an important place in Japanese culture: a symbol of the ephemeral nature of life and a reminder to cherish the precious moments that grace us throughout. For Tak, who grew up in Vancouver, it's a strong reminder of his childhood and hometown where the neighbourhoods and parks are lined with the tree. Each spring, the wind would create flurries of petals that would dance in the air and line the sidewalks and streets. Later he learned that these trees were gifted to Canada by Japan, epitomizing the deep bond between the two cultures he bridges.
